Uncertain materials: what to do before a request?

In a garage, basement or older home, it is common to find unlabelled containers or materials of unknown composition. Here is how to approach them.
Do not guess
If you do not know what a product or material contains, answer “I don’t know” in your request. It is an accepted answer: our team will review before any connection.
What needs special attention
- Containers of paint, solvent or chemicals
- Propane tanks and fuel tanks
- Batteries of all kinds
- Materials from older buildings that might contain asbestos (insulation, coverings, tiles)
Do not handle what worries you
If you suspect asbestos or a hazardous material, avoid moving or breaking it. Handling and disposal rules are a matter for specialized authorities and services: check the official resources of your municipality or region.
